SNS College of Western Australia (RTO 53034) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) delivering the nationally recognised CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations. This qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to perform entry-level security operations in accordance with legislative and licensing requirements in Western Australia. Successful completion of this qualification will result in a nationally recognised Certificate II in Security Operations.
What is this qualification used for?
The CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is the minimum qualification required to apply for a security licence in Western Australia.
It supports entry-level roles in the security industry where work is performed under supervision and in accordance with legal, ethical and organisational requirements.
Roles may include:

Completion of this qualification does not guarantee the issue of a security licence or employment. Licensing and employment outcomes are determined by WA Police Force Licensing Services and employers.
How is the course delivered?
Training is delivered via a blended model incorporating pre-course learning, structured online training and mandatory face-to-face practical assessments.
Course Duration: The course includes a structured delivery schedule incorporating supervised face-to-face training and assessment, supported by self-paced learning. Total duration and scheduling are designed to meet licensing and training requirements.
All training and assessment is delivered by SNS College of Western Australia. No third-party providers are used in the delivery of this course.

Units of Competency
To be awarded CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations, learners must successfully complete the following core units:
- CPPSEC2101 Apply effective communication skills to maintain security
- CPPSEC2102 Apply legal and procedural requirements to work effectively within a security team
- CPPSEC2103 Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security
- CPPSEC2104 Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations
- CPPSEC2105 Provide quality services to a range of security clients
- CPPSEC2106 Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques
- CPPSEC2107 Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security
- CPPSEC2108 Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security
- CPPSEC2109 Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
- CPPSEC2110 Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
- CPPSEC2111 Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
- CPPSEC2112 Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises
- CPPSEC2113 Escort and protect persons and valuables
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

How is the course structured?
Assessment for this qualification is competency based and conducted by qualified assessors in accordance with the requirements of the CPP Property Services Training Package.
Learners are assessed using a combination of:

- Direct observation of performance in simulated or workplace-based security scenarios

- Structured questioning to assess underpinning knowledge (verbal and/or written)

- Scenario-based activities and practical tasks relevant to security operations
Assessment activities are designed to reflect real workplace conditions and require learners to demonstrate skills, knowledge and behaviours consistent with legal, ethical and organisational requirements.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal prerequisites for entry into this qualification. However, learners must:

- Be 18 years of age or over

- Be living or working in Australia

- Have completed at least Australian Year 10 or equivalent

- Have basic computer skills

- Have sound Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills
*Learners who do not meet the LLN requirements may still enrol into the course provided the enrolment has been endorsed by the trainer and corresponding additional support strategies have been put in place.
Licensing, Legislative, Regulatory or Certification Considerations:
Occupational licensing, legislative and regulatory requirements apply to this qualification in Western Australia.
To apply for a security licence (e.g. Security Officer or Crowd Controller), learners must meet the licensing requirements prescribed under the:

- WA Police Force Licensing Services – Security Licensing Branch

- Security Agents Institute of Western Australia (SAIWA) Mandatory Knowledge Test
Successful completion of CPP20218 and the SAIWA knowledge test does not guarantee that a security licence will be issued. All licensing decisions are made by WA Police Force Licensing Services in accordance with legislative requirements.
Additional screening requirements, including identity checks and a National Police Certificate, apply. Further information is available from WA Police Licensing Services.
Learners must also meet all identification, character, and probity requirements as determined by WA Police Force Licensing Services at the time of application.

Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be available in limited circumstances for this qualification.
Due to occupational licensing requirements, external assessment requirements (including the SAIWA knowledge test), and the need for supervised, practical assessment, RPL is not suitable for most learners undertaking CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations.
